GATEWAY PARK

Future development in Rice Village will bring new parks, plazas and infrastructure to the area. Phase 1 of this new development will include the creation of a new Gateway Park on the corner of Greenbriar and a future Amherst roadway extension. Plans for the Gateway Park are underway and will begin with the relocation of two mature live oak trees to serve as anchors for the new park. The development of the Gateway Park is being led by Rice Real Estate Company in partnership with the Rice Village Management District. Environmental Design Inc, (EDI), a Texas-based tree specialist firm, has been contracted to oversee the relocation of the two oak trees. EDI has managed other tree relocation projects and planting services for clients such as the 911/ Memorial and Museum, Uptown Houston and Rice University.

EDI will complete the tree relocation by the end of October 2026. Rice Village Management District looks forward to creating a vibrant new park that preserves the natural assets of the area.
